Elsie Mae Walters, nee Page, age 89, passed away Sunday, the 23rd of June, 2024, at her daughter's home in Madison, Ohio.
She was born in Mifflin Township, PA, the daughter of the late Robert W. and Alice Edith (Bumford) Page.
As a young girl, Elsie had a heart condition that led her to spend a year in a Pittsburgh hospital. Upon discharge, Elsie's parents were advised that some cleaner, country air would benefit Elsie's health, so the family moved to Littles Corners, PA where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Saegertown High School and, around that time, met her future husband, Ronald G. Walters, while both worked at the Oakland Beach Hotel on Conneaut Lake. In marrying Ron, who was beginning his career in the United States Coast Guard, Elsie married military life and officially became a "Coastie's wife." Many changes to duty stations took them all around the Great Lakes region, and led to Elsie setting up many, many homes, creating a sense of normalcy for their child
