Albert R. Baker, Sr., 86, of Austinburg, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Jefferson Health Care Center.
He was born January 29, 1938, in Geneva, Ohio, the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Johnston) Baker. A lifelong area resident, Albert married the love of his life Ruth Lockwood on November 25, 1978.
Albert retired as a mechanic for ODOT, where he spent 20 years of his working career. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to make his famous homemade ice cream for special family events. Most of all he enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always whistling, and trying to teach them all to whistle.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruth; children, Belinda (Roger) Donley, Albert Baker Jr., Kimberly (Joe) Gaylor, LeeAnne (Jimmy) Stonum, Harold Baker, and Frank (Veronica) Baker; sister, Barbara Tucker; and 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
