Albert Franklin Cherry was born in 1931 in Durham, North Carolina and died on June 24th, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his mother Tommy Cleo Cherry (Hobbs), Father Albert L. "Buddy" Cherry, brother Ernest Odell Cherry and nephew Michael Cherry.
He is survived by his wife Betty-Lou Cherry of 55 years and son Kevin Cherry, grandchildren including Brian, Michael, Isabella, and Christopher, sister Betty Bullard (Mrs. Amos Murray) of Autryville, North Carolina, brothers Charles Cherry of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and Philip Cherry (wife Patricia) of Autryville, North Carolina.
Albert's early years (0-6) were spent in Durham North Carolina; He then moved to Sampson county North Carolina and lived as a tenant farmer, farming tobacco and cotton until joining the Air Force at age 17.
Albert volunteered for the Korean war but was sent to Morocco to serve in North Africa. He went on to serve as a paratrooper in the Army where he had 133 jumps and deployed to Germany. Al spent time in the Army
